Readings

One or two, maybe a few.

Well this section is pretty self explanatory. Readings or Poems can make or break a ceremony. If you have too many of them, you and your guests will get glassy eyed as you pray for them to be over. But if you pick even one, as long as it's the right one, you can bring romance and emotion to everyone who witnesses your ceremony.

Some Common readings - I am only putting a few, because there are so many available on the internet.

A New Beginning

Gwen Frostic

On this earth this is a oneness A rhythmic flow through everything that lives The things with roots and stems and leaves The things with shells and fins and furs The things with wings with which to fly The things that crawl and those that walk Each thing must eat and breathe and rest Each thing must seek and each is sought for Each has a birth, a purpose to fulfil To each an end and then a new beginning.

Sudden Light

Dante Gabriel Rossetti

I have been here before But when or how I cannot tell; I know the grass beyond the door, The sweet keen smell, the sighing sound, The lights around the shore. You have been mine before, How long ago I may not know; But just then at that swallow's soar Your neck turned so, Some veil did fall, -- I knew it all of yore. Has this been thus before? And shall not thus time's eddying flight Still with our lives our love restore In death's despite, And day and night yield one delight once more?

Love

Roy Croft

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I am with you.

I love you,
Not only for what you have made of yourself
But for what you are making of me.

I love you,
For that part of me that you bring out
I love you,
For putting your hand into my heaped up heart
And passing over all the foolish, weak things
That you can't help dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out into the light
All the beautiful belongings that no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you are helping me
To make of the lumber of my life
Not a Tavern
But a Temple,
Out of the works of my every day
Not a reproach,
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good,
And more than any fate
To make me happy.

You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself
