The circle is a sacred symbol representing the oneness of all life. It symbolizes the perfection of the universe without a beginning or an ending. The ring encloses your finger the same way that your commitments encircle your life. It's not binding unless you wish it to be. As you have chosen to place the ring on your finger, so you are choosing to be committed to the marriage vows you are making to your partner.

I like to explain the symbolism of the rings in your marriage ceremony. Rather than hurry through so you can get your vows done, take the time to incorporate this simple ceremony in as well. It will be a beautiful, meaningful reminder that the expensive metal and gem piece that you have placed on your finger was given with love, not just money.
